Lin Lai (林来 / 李诗雨) | Founder & Master Engraver

Lin Lai is the founder of XUJIE, directing surface aesthetics and freehand ceramic engraving. Inheriting the direct-chisel (Kongke) traditions of the Ren Ganting lineage through acclaimed engraver Zhu Binghao (Shi Tao), Lin is an active member of the Calligraphers Association. She specializes in adapting classical brush line-drawing, Rebgong Thangka iconography, and traditional figure compositions to curved, unglazed purple clay surfaces. Working freehand at sub-millimeter depths (0.1–0.2 mm) without laser or mechanical guidance, Lin masters the challenging curvature of fragile Zhuni clay. In 2026, her carved cup Bi Xumi was selected as a Finalist in the 9th CHINA National Ceramic Competition. Her original carved series are formally copyright-registered. Lin Lai is the daughter of master potter Li Feng.
